It's a light, slimline convertible laptop that will appeal to anyone who travels a lot, and proves that Asus can do more than simply cloning its rivals' designs. The price is comparable to that of rival ultraportables, while the bundled stylus and other accessories provide good value for money. With an attractive 13-inch display and desktop-level performance, the Flip S will make a good workhorse laptop for running Microsoft Office and other business software. If you're planning to run demanding workloads though, beware that battery life may suffer.

Asus Zenbook Flip S UX371 Review — Beautiful Screen, Great Performance

This is a very premium offering from ASUS, and the pricing does reflect it as well. From what we know, it costs around $1500 (~RM6080). If you value a beautiful 4K OLED display in a 2-in-1 convertible form factor, I do think that it is quite a fair price to pay. Unfortunately it does seem that you will have to give up a bit of performance, as the ASUS ZenBook Flip S UX371 apparently doesn’t allow the 11th Gen Intel Core to deliver its fullest potential. Still, it is quite powerful as it is, so I guess it is acceptable. Its portability is also a strong plus in its favor, as it weighs just 1.2kg, glass screen cover and all. I do wish the keyboard was a bit more tactile, but overall, I would say that the ASUS ZenBook Flip S UX371 is definitely a strong contender for one of the best convertible laptops out there. Now to see how much will it cost once it arrives on our shores…

The convertible also features the NumberPad 2.0, an LED-illuminated numeric keypad integrated in the touchpad that makes up for the lack of physical numeric keypads in compact notebooks. A single-touch sensor at the top-right of the touchpad turns NumberPad on or off, and swiping from the top left icon in any direction on the NumberPad 2.0 activates the Calculator app on the main display. It's not a killer feature by any means, and for what it's worth I seldom turn NumberPad on. But it is there, and I'm sure there will be others who find this more useful than it did for me.

The keyboard and trackpad impress, too. It’s cheaper than most rivals with equivalent hardware: the Dell XPS 13 costs £1,624 exc VAT and £1,708 exc VAT in its laptop and hybrid guises and the MacBook arrives at £1,540 exc VAT. Only the Asus ExpertBook costs less, but it’s hindered by its poorer screen.

Had the ZenBook Flip S been able to post better battery life and sustained performance scores, I’d have been inclined to sing its praises. It has a jaw-dropping display, looks slick, is well built and offers more flexibility in how you use it compared with its rivals. In many ways, it’s the most opulent, ambitious laptop I’ve ever used – a luxury yacht among ultraportables. However, as much as it impresses in some departments, it falls significantly short in others. Compromised cooling means that performance isn’t all it could be and the OLED screen is power hungry, leading to mediocre battery life. Put simply, for a laptop that costs the better part of two grand, I’d expect much, more more.

It packs a tremendously bright and beautiful 4K panel, and instantly transforms into a tablet when you need it. It’s a bit expensive though, and while the Core i7-1165G7 processor was plenty fast for regular tasks, it still lacks the oomph required for more intense computational applications. Then there’s the price – at Php 94,995, it’s fairly expensive, and it’s clear in the pricing that you’re paying a premium for that beautiful screen.

In our time with the Asus ZenBook Flip S, we found it to be a delightful machine that looks as good as it works. The 2-1 ultrabook's biggest USP is definitely its design and the gorgeous 4K OLED display that supports touch interactions via a stylus. However, it's 11th-Gen Intel Tiger Lake CPU-backed performance is also a definite tick in its favour. As found out during our review, the ultrabook packs in more power than you'd expect it to, and as such is primed for work on the go and even casual gaming. Although, there's one department it could have improved in -- battery life. However, here also the performance isn't so bad that it turns into a deal-breaker.

But I am not sure if the Flip S is able to compete with Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro that comes with the newly launched M1 processor. This could be the option for most people who want a laptop with all-day battery life and great performance. You won’t get a 4K OLED screen, though.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.
