Android versus iPad is ultimately a religious war. The decision on which side to support should probably be made at the macro level. The differences between this particular Android tablet and the iPad are very small. If you’re betting on Android and want a 10-inch tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 should be at the top of your list.

Overall, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a hugely likeable device. With its slick performance, lightweight chassis and excellent screen and speakers, it captures the instinctive, tactile appeal of Apple’s tablet better than any rival we’ve seen. It has its weaknesses – notably the battery life – and it’s hardly innovative. But if you can find one in the shops, it’s the best Android tablet we’ve seen, and a compelling alternative to the iPad 2.

While I appreciate the time Samsung spent on the overall quality of the Tab 10.1's construction and design, I would have liked more attention paid to the details in the software and custom apps department. Like many consumers, I have high expectations when I pay $500 for a mobile device. I expect it to do almost every task that my laptop can do, and in some instances, I expect to be more productive too. That being said, the Tab 10.1 met most of my expectations and I think they have room for improvement to make the tablet more flexible to consumer needs so we can integrate the tablet with other devices we use in our personal and professional lives.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an attractive purchase: it’s well-built, slim and light, has a valuable collection of quality apps, and sports a comparatively low price. It even fares well in performance benchmark tests against its competitors. However, some of these competitors offer better value by building memory card slots and comms ports into tablets costing roughly the same price. Here, Samsung takes yet another leaf out of Apple's book, as all those niceties will cost you extra.

Certainly not perfect, lacking in decent apps and not quite the elusive iPad 2 beater we were looking for, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 is still the best Android tablet you can get. Samsung is charging £399, the same as Apple for the entry-level 16GB version and is selling a 32GB and 64GB 3G-enabled model but wouldn't give us the price on those.

The pricing and availability for the 3G version of the Galaxy Tab is yet to be decided but the Wi-Fi version is selling for the same price as the iPad in the US so expect to pay another $100+ for the 3G version. Question is, would I recommend or buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at that price? Honeycomb is still a bit behind and Touchviz doesn’t really smoothen things by much but if I was considering a Honeycomb tablet, it would be very much between the ASUS Transformer because of it’s hybrid nature and cheaper pricing and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 because of its amazing form factor.

That said, I’m still not convinced anyone needs an Android tablet. There are still only a few hundred apps designed specifically for this sort of tablet — which means that most of the apps you run on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 are also available for Android smartphones. If you have an Android phone and find yourself constantly frustrated by the limitations of the small screen, or if you want a tablet specifically because you want a mobile device that you can use without increasing your monthly phone bill, I suppose this type of tablet could fit the bill.

Because Samsung customizes user interfaces, it has to customize OS updates as well, in order to keep the user interface experience consistent for the customer—and this takes a while. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 will ship with un-customized Honeycomb 3.1, but Samsung will soon push out an update that will change the way the user interface looks and operates. Samsung reps claim the changes will be subtle, but regardless of how they look, it could be a huge gamble on Samsung's part, and on the part of early buyers of the Tab 10.1. Users accustomed to Honeycomb will have to adapt to the new changes, and of course, when Google pushes out further updates to the OS, Samsung will have to first customize them and then push that update out to its customers. If it's a matter of days or even a few weeks, that's not a huge deal. But Samsung's customers in the mobile phone world know firsthand that Android updates can take a long, long time—months—before the manufacturer deems them ready for release. What you're getting when you buy the Galaxy Tab, in other words, might not be what you'll get long-term.

For the latter of those you can take advantage of front facing camera, which is joined back a rear facing 8-megapixel one that includes an LED and autofocus. It was difficult to truly assess its quality but from what we could tell it was about on par with most other smartphone cameras. HD video is also available , just as the device itself can playback Full HD video.

The form and size of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 feels perfect for a device you can grab to take with you for a long trip, a meeting, or a trip to the ballpark. It isn't as unwieldy as a 10-inch tablet, but the tradeoff is the screen loses real estate previously devoted to input. As a result, it doesn't feel like a serious business device (unless you pair it with a keyboard) that you would want by your side through a busy day of meetings and projects.

If you’ve not yet splurged for a tablet of your own and you aren’t quite sure if the iPad is for you, then this tablet might just fill that little space in your heart. While it does suffer from some sluggishness due to Android 3.2, it’s still a gorgeous little tablet that is ultra-portable and gets the job done. While there are similar-sized Android tablets out already, the screen on the Tab 7.7 just has to be seen to be appreciated. While I don’t recommend using the call features of this tablet, it will work well for just about anything else you can throw at it.

On hardware alone, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the highest-quality tablet Samsung currently offers. The thin and light design is top-notch, battery life is incredible, and the Super AMOLED Plus screen is gorgeous, but it's held back by the rough-around-the-edges, outdated Honeycomb OS and a high off-contract price. The 10-inch Wi-Fi-only Asus Transformer Pad TF300 packs in the latest quad-core Nvidia processor and Android OS and manages an affordable sub-$400 price. Samsung's own Wi-Fi-only 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 costs nearly a third of the price and comes with Ice Cream Sandwich on-board. If LTE connectivity is a major concern, you should consider a hotspot like the Verizon Jetpack ($49.99, 4.5 stars), and couple it with a less-expensive Wi-Fi-only tablet. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is beautiful, but unless you really need Verizon LTE inside your tablet, it's simply too expensive.

This device is, again, what I’m gonna go ahead and say is the sweetest spot for tablets at the moment. If I had to choose between this device and the Galaxy Note (original), I’d choose the Note. I’m still of the opinion that tablets are mostly bonus devices made for fun rather than utility, and the Galaxy Note takes care of everything I could possibly want a smart device to do. That said, if you’ve got a want for a tablet, this one’s a magical size. If you’ve tried a 10-inch tablet and you find it sort of absurd, but still want a display larger than your everyday average smartphone, take a peek at this tablet at your local Verizon outlet. It’s certainly an entertaining device to play with.

Even though it has a superlative screen and outstanding battery life, it's hard to justify when it costs £70 more than a high quality 10inch tablet. For smaller tablets, it's an even tougher sell: the 8.9inch Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition is nearly as good but costs £150 less, and then there's the improbably cheap Kindle Fire, which simply has to hit UK shores soon – assuming we don't skip straight to the Kindle Fire 2. If we were Samsung, we'd ditch the Tab 2 and focus on getting the price for this down, because everything about it is the way a tablet should be. As it is, sidelining the star of the Galaxy Tab line-up seems a mistake.

This is a very good tablet, but here's the central problem: The Android Honeycomb app selection is stillborn, and industry interest is moving towards the next version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0. The good news is that the Tab 7.0 Plus is slated to get an ICS upgrade at some point. If you like the features on this tablet (other than the poorly working remote), by all means get it. But I'd wait to see if ICS brings a flourishing of tablet apps that could make Android tablets better able to compete with the app king, the Apple iPad 2.

As might be expected, the market for rugged gadgets is quite niche. Not many people need their tablet to take a ridiculous drop in its stride or to be able to hot-swap batteries on the fly. Given that it is laser-targeted towards them, the Tab 5 is, therefore, something of a niche device for construction workers and hikers who need it. Therefore, its success as a general-purpose tablet is a testament to its overall quality. It has a fast, bright display, decent battery life, and enough processing power to handle most everyday tasks. Paired with a pair of decent cameras and a body that can take anything the house can throw at it (plus potentially an actual house), it’s a tablet with a lot to offer. This is with the caveat that it has a single speaker, doesn’t have a kickstand and, to some at least, a rather dated design.

De här grafikkorten är inte lämpliga för spel. Om spelet fungerar alls är det ofta med mycket låg bildfrekvens och andra problem med renderingen. Vanligt kontorsbruk och surfande bör däremot fungera bra.

Bara vissa äldre spel kan spelas flytande med de här grafikkorten. Kretsar med delat minne har fördelen att de utvecklar mindre värme och ger längre batteritid. De duger gott för kontorsbruk, surfande och enklare bildbehandling, men spel och HD-video är inte i syftet med de här kretsarna.
