We’ve gone pretty hard on the phones on the software side, but the reality is that they’re affordable, high quality alternatives to the top-tier phones from the big manufacturers. Color OS simply isn’t to our tastes at all – It makes Oppo’s amazing hardware feel just the little bit more pedestrian and uninspired, and it made it a tough sell to stick with the phones for longer than the review period when our usual day-to-day phones feature a more Android-like UI. There’s an increasing number of Aussies out there buying Oppo’s phones though, and it makes us feel that our criticism of Color OS is perhaps a bit off-base for general consumers.

In a nutshell, the Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus are reasonably decent phones - all the expected functionality for its price point, good design (albeit it looks very familiar) and has an acceptable set of cameras for normal photography and high resolution selfies. Selling for AUD$598 with 64GB of storage, the OPPO R9s is a great deal, but it’s slightly difficult to recommend over the significantly cheaper F1s if you don’t need the extra bells and whistles, such as the better camera or the horsepower. Vanilla Android would push this phone over the edge and make it an easily recommendable device over its competitors, but as it stands you’ll have to weigh up whether you can deal with the slightly odd operating system. If the operating system isn’t a problem, then you’re getting one of the best value-for-money phones on the market.

Comparing it with the F1s, both phones share a lot of similarities and one might even opt for the F1s for being cheaper at RM1198, whereas the R9S stands at RM1798. That’s a RM600 difference and it’s easily understood why some customers won’t go for the R9S. However, the R9S is a lot better in terms of picture quality, and the performance is better with a Snapdragon 625 processor. Let’s not forget the awesome battery recharge technology as well. Despite these good points, we still wished OPPO could have been more creative in their design department for it. Seriously, guys.

That said, Oppo's execution is the best, and this isn't just because of the six-string antenna design (though that's a big part of it). The R9s has the same screen size as the iPhone 7 Plus, but you wouldn't guess it - the Oppo is so much more compact and lighter. The fingerprint reader is faster than Apple's too.

My advice, wait for OPPO to realise that the rest of the world is not the wild wild west when it comes to rogue apps and the entire world does not want a copy of an operating system that has barely been altered and improved since its inception. This phone with Project Spectrum (AOSP) would be fantastic and a must buy — with ColorOS 3.1 it is unfortunately an avoid at all costs.

Oppo R11 review: An affordable iPhone 7 Plus?

Finally, at S$699, the R11 is quite pricey for a mid-range phone and its set of features. For S$70 more you can get the 6GB RAM/64GB OnePlus 5, which has a very similar dual rear camera setup, looks almost exactly the same, and has a much more powerful flagship-level Snapdragon 835 processor. It also has a UI that's closer to stock Android instead of the iOS clone you get with the R11. Alternatively, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is available for about S$130 LESS than the R11 (export units on Lazada) and also has a dual camera setup (with the added benefit of optical image stabilization) and a Snapdragon 835 processor.

Alternatively, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is available for about S$130 LESS than the R11 (export units on Lazada) and also has a dual camera setup (with the added benefit of optical image stabilization) and a Snapdragon 835 processor.

At 3,299 yuan (~$520) for the Ruby Red model and 3,499 yuan (~$555) for the Infinity Black, it’s hard to whole-heartedly recommend the Oppo R15 Pro. OnePlus will announce the OnePlus 6 soon. It will have much of the same body and likely fix many of my gripes with this thing. While we’ve taken issue with Color OS in the past, and continue to find some quirks with the way it implements some things, on this device it seems to deliver most of what we expect in an Android phone – its something you could learn to live with if you’re coming from a more standard Android platform. Oppo:
Bara vissa äldre spel kan spelas flytande med de här grafikkorten. Kretsar med delat minne har fördelen att de utvecklar mindre värme och ger längre batteritid. De duger gott för kontorsbruk, surfande och enklare bildbehandling, men spel och HD-video är inte i syftet med de här kretsarna.

De här grafikkorten är inte lämpliga för spel. Om spelet fungerar alls är det ofta med mycket låg bildfrekvens och andra problem med renderingen. Vanligt kontorsbruk och surfande bör däremot fungera bra.

En del nyare spel kan spelas med de här grafikkorten, men bara om de är mindre krävande. De har ändå tillräcklig kapacitet för kontorsbruk och film (möjligen högupplöst). Är grafikkretsen dessutom integrerad kan batteritiden vara utmärkt.
