After reviewing the HONOR Magic6 Lite, my feelings are mixed. Its predecessor, the Magic5 Lite, was not perfect either, but it was affordable, so the overall assessment was positive. However, by that time, it had been on the market for a while and had become cheaper. The Magic6 Lite is priced at around $360 – what do we get for this money? A powerful battery – yes. A vibrant and beautiful curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate – yes. The processor – overall okay. A slim body and a version with orange eco-leather – yes, cool. Well-optimized interface – probably, but with the old Android 13 and short support. So, here we started talking about the downsides. HONOR Magic6 LiteAnd there are enough downsides – the package is poor, there is no charger or case (competitors offer these for the same price).

On top of that, the HONOR Magic6 Lite has a great display. This is one of the best displays in this price range, without a doubt. The performance is also really good, and the battery life is great. Charging could be faster, but we do have to keep in mind what’s the price tag here. This phone’s weakest point is in the camera department.

Honor has refined what was already a rather sharp looking smartphone into something that could easily be mistaken for a much more expensive device. Battery life is exceptional for the cash, and that lead camera is impressively detailed. However, not changing things up also means a few returning issues. I still don’t see the point in adding a macro camera, Honor’s software update commitments are basic, and gaming still isn’t a strong point, even among affordable phones. And are curved edge screens really still the status symbol they once were, now Google and Samsung have ditched them from their flagships? That said, Honor has managed to avoid cost of living increases better than many rivals. The Magic 6 Lite is considerably cheaper than a Google Pixel 7a. That alone could still make it a great choice for anyone on a modest budget.

When compared with devices from the same price range ($200 – $399), the Honor Magic6 Lite (5300 mAh) ranked behind its predecessor, the Magic5 Lite. It very easily holds its own against bigger or more familiar names on the market, including Samsung, Apple and Google. There has been some improvement when compared to the Honor Magic 5 Pro, but probably not enough to warrant upgrading imminently, unless you really want to. I’d have liked to have seen some better leaps made with the portrait mode, but otherwise, the main sensor and its accompanying lens, plus the new periscope lens do a good all-round job.

The Magic 6 Pro is an excellent smartphone. But is it a great smartphone? The hardware is top-notch, but we feel the photography lies a little adrift of the very best. But the overall problem is the price point which is a little too high compared to rivals. It’s a shame, because what is on offer here is a fantastic phone. If O2 do sell it in the UK (the network said it would be stocking Honor devices on stage at its launch) then it will be interesting to see how is priced on contract. If you can get it cheaply on a reasonable deal then you won’t go wrong – this is an excellent Android flagship phone. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is ace, lasts for ages and is quick to take great shots. If you decide to get one on a deal, you’ll have a truly awesome phone on your hands.

The Magic 6 Pro is an excellent smartphone. But is it a great smartphone? The hardware is top-notch, but we feel the photography lies a little adrift of the very best. But the overall problem is the price point which is a little too high compared to rivals. It’s a shame, because what is on offer here is a fantastic phone. If O2 do sell it in the UK (the network said it would be stocking Honor devices on stage at its launch) then it will be interesting to see how is priced on contract. If you can get it cheaply on a reasonable deal then you won’t go wrong – this is an excellent Android flagship phone. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is ace, lasts for ages and is quick to take great shots. If you decide to get one on a deal, you’ll have a truly awesome phone on your hands.

You've got a 180MP zoom lens, which means decent telephoto shots in lower light, plus 4k video recording. Gamers will also be happy with the performance and battery life here. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so even Genshin Impact and the most demanding games can play with a respectable frame rate. It’s not perfect, especially in the software department where I feel that Honor’s MagicOS 8 could do with a few QOL tweaks and less of a focus on being an iOS dupe. It also lacks long-term support, offering 4 OS upgrades and five years of security patches, while the Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 offer an extended seven years of updates, and its MagicPortal AI tech is a little lacklustre at launch. However, I feel that the vast majority of users could learn to live with Honor’s software quirks when there’s such great hardware on offer.

But just because their Magic lineup may not be the one you think of first, it doesn't mean you shouldn't seriously consider the Magic6 Pro. It's not perfect, that's for sure. For its cameraphone aspirations, the Honor's video quality is a bit… unreliable. Certain specific circumstances can trip its camera in stills too, but those aren't that bothersome. Similarly, a few minor software peculiarities had us irked along the way. But that's really the magnitude of the 'problems' we had with the Magic6 Pro. These are easily outweighed by the phone's strong points though. The Magic6 PRo's display is truly great, even for the class. The battery life is towards the top of the chart, charging is quicker than at least the Samsung.

A phone like the HONOR Magic 6 Pro is up against some serious competition. The previously mentioned Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1419.99 at Amazon) is a major contender, as is the Pixel 8 Pro ($999 at Amazon). Thankfully, in Europe, the Magic 6 Pro undercuts the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s list price by quite a bit. At €1,299 (~$1,408), it is now a decent alternative to the Ultra. However, that’s still more than the Pixel 8 Pro, which lands at €1,099 (~$1,191). Even so, the periscope zoom on this thing is outrageous, so if that’s a big part of your smartphone needs, this might be worth grabbing for that alone. What do you think? With a DXOMARK Audio score of 155, the Honor Magic6 Pro is among the very best devices tested to date under our Audio protocol, delivering strong results across all playback and recording sub-tests. In playback our experts particularly liked the Magic6 Pro’s performance for timbre, spatial and volume. Attacks were snappy and the sound quite punchy overall. A slight boost in the low end brought more depth, although it could also lead to some resonances or light distortion, which could also deteriorate bass precision. Playback quality was especially good when playing games, but results were also excellent for watching movies and music consumption. In recording tests, the audio zoom feature is excellent and very effective, while wind noise was very well under control.

As far as I’m concerned, the Honor Magic 6 Pro deserves a recommendation based on the battery life alone. Is the HONOR Magic6 Pro the phone for you? Well… it’s certainly an interesting phone. As I mentioned several times in the review, I see this phone as a hybrid of iOS and Android, in a way. Throughout my entire usage cycle, I felt that way, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is the first slab phone that I thoroughly enjoyed using since I switched to foldables. I don’t even know why, to be quite honest. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a complete package, that’s hard to deny. Its software is noticeably improved compared to last year’s model, and the camera improvements are also easily noticeable. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a great phone, and if you’re in the market for a flagship-grade device, this one is definitely worth considering.

The Honor Magic6 Pro provided an excellent overall battery experience, with impressive improvements in autonomy and charging that pushed the flagship device into the top position of the Battery ranking, a rare feat for an ultra-premium smartphone. Equipped with a large 5600 mAh battery, the Honor Magic6 Pro, offered more than 3 and a half days of autonomy under moderate usage. The device performed impressively in most individual test cases, including the idle screen-on, video streaming, gaming, and calling. However, idle screen off and music-streaming test cases under Wi-Fi conditions showed weaker performances. The peak wired charging power supported by the Honor Magic6 Pro increased to 80W, allowing the device to be fully charged in 1 hour and 11 minutes. The maximum wireless charging power at 66W was not far behind, providing a full charge in less than 1 hour 20 mins. In our 5-minute quick charge test, the device was able to regain more than 7.5 hours of autonomy, which ranked it at the top half of our database.

While the maximum brightness did not reach the same levels attained by the Galaxy S24 Ultra or even some of the Magic6 Pro’s competitors, the screen was consistently and comfortably readable in all conditions – not too bright in low-light or dark conditions and not too dark when outdoors to affect the user experience. Additionally, the outdoor brightness level remained consistent for all types of displayed content, which is not the case for most competitors’ devices, whose display luminance decreases as white areas on the screen increase.

The Honor Magic 6 Pro is all-in-all an impressive device with some serious hardware breakthroughs. Like with most other Honor phones, it's held back by its software, even as the company works on getting up to par with the Samsungs and Googles of this world. That's in part thanks to clever tricks like its Magic Portal, which could become a genuinely useful AI feature that fits cuts down on a lot of copying and pasting. If you want the latest and greatest hardware more than a software experience that is polished to the levels of iPhone and Pixel smoothness, you'll be happy with the Magic 6 Pro. The same is true if you value battery life above everything else, thanks to Honor pairing a big battery with its software battery optimizations. Combined with the polished hardware and the versatile camera setup, it’s Honor’s most enticing phone in a while. There are still reasons to go for different phones, though.

Is the HONOR Magic6 Pro the phone for you? Well… it’s certainly an interesting phone. As I mentioned several times in the review, I see this phone as a hybrid of iOS and Android, in a way. Throughout my entire usage cycle, I felt that way, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is the first slab phone that I thoroughly enjoyed using since I switched to foldables. I don’t even know why, to be quite honest. I still have quite a few complaints about its software, but that combination of Android and iOS aspects really appealed to me, in combination with the phone’s camera performance, battery life, and design. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a complete package, that’s hard to deny. Its software is noticeably improved compared to last year’s model, and the camera improvements are also easily noticeable. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a great phone, and if you’re in the market for a flagship-grade device, this one is definitely worth considering.

The maximum wireless charging power at 66W was not far behind, providing a full charge in less than 1 hour 20 mins. In our 5-minute quick charge test, the device was able to regain more than 7.5 hours of autonomy, which ranked it at the top half of our database.

Additionally, the outdoor brightness level remained consistent for all types of displayed content, which is not the case for most competitors’ devices, whose display luminance decreases as white areas on the screen increase.

The Honor Magic 6 is the latest flagship smartphone from Honor at the start of 2024. So, Honor includes all the latest components with the highest technological improvements in the smartphone. This included a high-tech display, chipset, battery, and charger. Honor may have created a benchmark when it comes to the highest peak brightness display in a modern smartphone. Well, Honor had to cut some corners in the form of display protection and water and dust resistance. There’s no official IP rating on the smartphone, but it does have some sort of display protection but it’s not as good as Gorilla Glass protection in Samsung flagship smartphones or the Ceramic Shield protection in iPhones. But it also brings super-fast charging capabilities that are not found in those flagship smartphones. So, if water resistance and display protection are a priority for you, then you can go with other smartphones.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Qualcomm Adreno 710:

Qualcomm Adreno 750: Grafikchip för smartphones och surfplattor som är integrerat i Qualcomms Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Qualcomm hävdar att det är 25 % snabbare än Adreno 7340 i Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 och de första benchmarks visar att GPU:n kan slå iGPU:n Apple A17 Pro.

Qualcomm Snapdragon:

SD 6 Gen 1: Mellanklass-SoC med 8 Kryo-kärnor (4x ARM Cortex A78 2,2 GHz prestandakluster, 4x ARM Cortex A55 med 1,8 effektivitetskluster) och ett X62 5G-modem (upp till 2900 Mbps nedladdning). Chipet tillverkas med hjälp av den moderna 4nm-processen.

SD 8 Gen 3: High-end SoC för smartphones som introducerades i slutet av 2022 med en snabb primärkärna baserad på en ARM Cortex-X3-arkitektur klockad till upp till 3,2 GHz. Ytterligare två prestandakärnor är baserade på A715 och stöder endast 64-bitarsapplikationer. De två ytterligare A710-kärnorna stöder också 32-bitarsapplikationer, liksom de strömsparande Cortex-A510-kärnorna. Förutom processorkärnorna innehåller SoC:n ett WiFi 7-modem, en Hexagon DSP (för AI-acceleration) och en Spectra ISP. Den integrerade minneskontrollern stöder snabbt LPDDR5x-minne med upp till 4.200 MHz. 5G ingår i chipet med Snapdragon X70-modemet.
