Surprisingly or not, Dynabook has built a really solid machine, especially when it comes to performance. And it has the cooling to back the processors up. In our opinion, they could have easily gone for the 35W Tiger Lake-H35 devices, or even AMD’s Zen 3 5000U processors. Unfortunately, the fingerprint reader is located inside the touchpad area. And the space above it and to its left is practically non-sensitive to touches, which is petty. However, what is even worse is the fact that the speakers here are no good. The mids are super muffled, while the lows are almost muted. Clearly, you won’t be satisfied, even if you’re not an audiophile. When it comes to the battery life, the laptop will last you about 10 hours of Web browsing, or 7 hours of video playback. This means it should last you a light workday on battery power, but if you throw anything heavier at it – bring a charger. At the end of the day, this business device brings a lot to the table. We think it has what it takes to battle the likes of the Dell Latitude 14 3420, or the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2.

One indisputable strength to end on, however, is battery life. Dynabook has clearly taken the decision to add bulk and weight – 1.5kg is nothing special these days – so that it can include a meaty 53Wh battery, and in return the Tecra A40-J kept going for over ten hours in our video-rundown test. That’s a fine result for such a powerful laptop. If you’ve kept reading this far then we can only assume the screen quality hasn’t put you off, and there is one factor in its favour: a matte finish removes any problems with reflections. We still wish Dynabook included one of the excellent Sharp IGZO panels we’ve seen in its other Dynabooks, but look past this and you’ll find a fast, long-lasting machine for a highly competitive price.

Overall, the Dynabook Tecra A40 is something of a middling entry to the business laptop space. Though it scored very well on performance, proving its worth as a portable workhorse, its other shortcomings make it hard to imagine a use case in which it really excels. Battery life and colour accuracy are the clear pitfalls here. Despite this, it's still a capable entry in the Dynabook range, if one without a clear purpose in mind. Light, equipped with a great keyboard and with more ports than you have peripherals, the Tecra A40 is a capable, if not indispensable, laptop for business use.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Sist men inte minst har Core i7-1260P en inbyggd 96 EU Iris Xe GPU inte olikt vissa 11th Gen Tiger Lake-UP3-delar.
