Med starka konkurrenter som MacBook Air eller XPS 13 har trycket varit hårt på Lenovo att hålla sin ThinkPad X1 Carbon-serie i form. Den senaste modellen är bättre än någonsin, vilket vi konstaterade i vårt tidigare test av enheten. Möjligheten att utrusta datorn med modem kommer förmodligen också att tilltala en del köpare.

Kan Core i5 FHD-konfigurationen erbjuda märkbart längre batteritid och lägre temperaturer än sin dyrare motsvarighet? Skillnaderna i batteritid är små och även om yttemperaturerna är lite lägre är skillnaden bara ett par grader i bästa fall. Det innebär att en potentiell köpare kan välja den dyrare modellen för att få bättre prestanda, mer exakta färger och mer högupplöst skärm utan att offra för mycket av batteritiden.

Prestandan med Core i5 är lägre än förväntat, i synnerhet i enkelkärniga processer. Den kanske mest anmärkningsvärda skillnaden är att denna FHD-konfiguration inte använder PWM för ljusstyrkan i motsats till WQHD-konfigurationen. Är man känslig för flimmer kanske man därför föredrar Full HD-modellen i stället för en snabbare processor.
