Nya ThinkPad T470 gör i stora drag bra ifrån sig, trots vissa nackdelar. Det nya chassit är bara något mindre och lättare än tidigare, men både byggkvalitet och stabilitet är mycket bra. Tangentbordet är fortfarande ett av de bästa i mobilsegmentet, även om det kunde haft något bättre bakbelysning.

Lenovo har även förbättrat portarna i här uppdateringen och inkluderat alla viktiga standarder, inklusive Thunderbolt 3. WiFi-modulen är snabb och datorn har en rejäl uppsättning säkerhetsfunktioner.

Prestandan är mycket bra och det förekommer ingen strypning ens under extrema arbetsbelastningar. Lenovo låter processorn dra mer ström än vanligt, så Core i7-processorn är – till skillnad från i många konkurrerande modeller – ett intressant alternativ. Kylningslösningen har inga som helst problem att hantera ULV-kretsen.

Skärmen är fortfarande en av de största nackdelarna, även om Lenovo förbättrat ljusstyrkan och kontrastförhållandet. Testmodellen är inte lämplig för bildredigering – i så fall bör du antagligen (återigen) uppgradera till den dyrare T470s (test kommer snart) för ändamålet. Asus visade nyligen med Zenbook UX3410 hur en bra 14-tums panel ser ut. Vi skulle naturligtvis föredra en bättre panel, men samtidigt får man ta hänsyn till målgruppen. De flesta företag kommer inte att använda ThinkPad T470 för bildredigering, och om de gör det kommer de förmodligen använda den i kombination med bättre externa bildskärmar. 

Den sista aspekten är det höga priset. Visserligen ingår treårig service på plats, vilket ofta är ett tillval hos konkurrenterna. En NVMe-SSD på 512 GB påverkar också priset. Du kan spara en slant med en standard-SSD, något som förmodligen inte påverkar den subjektiva prestandan.

Sammantaget är ThinkPad T470 en av de bästa företagsmaskinerna på marknaden idag. Anledningarna är: bra temperaturhantering, lågt fläktljud, utmärkta inmatningsenheter, bra prestanda och lång batteritid.
