Tack vare sitt mycket stabila stativ och tangentbordshöljet som ”sitter fast” på surfplattan kan Spectre x2 med fördel användas som bärbar dator. USB C-portarna både laddar enheten och ger dig anslutningsmöjligheter till befintlig typ A-utrustning via adapter (ingår). Huvudkameran på baksidan av surfplattan tar mycket bra bilder och videoklipp, vilket vi inte sett på länge i en Windowsplatta. Dessutom möjliggör RealSense-kameran 3D-scanning – åtminstone i framtiden. Den kan mäta det strukturella djupet i t.ex. ett ansikte.

Spectre x2 har också några mindre men uthärdliga nackdelar. Vissa användare kommer att sakna en kortläsare för SD-kort. Stativet hoppar ur sitt viloläge när tabletten är något skev. Batteritiden är inte dålig, men sju till åtta timmar i stället för bara sex timmars Wi-Fi-användning hade varit önskvärt med tanke på priset och Core M-processorn.

Att prestandan bara motsvarar M3-processorn i Surface Pro är en besvikelse. Som köpare kan man lika gärna välja M3-6Y30-versionen (2x 900 MHz), som är förmodligen är ännu mer strömsnål. 

Vill man ha högre prestanda bör man istället titta närmare på Microsofts Surface Pro 4 med Core i5/i7. Den har dessutom en snabbare NVMe-SSD. Ett par andra alternativ är den större Spectre X360 13 med en i5-6200U-processor, eller Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12. Men alla behöver inte mer prestanda, och då är Spectre x2 fortfarande ett konkurrenskraftigt alternativ.
