Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

The frequency of 357.1 Hz is relatively high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering. However, there are reports that some users are still sensitive to PWM at 500 Hz and above, so be aware.

HP Elite x3 är en stor ”phablet” som HP marknadsför som en surfplatta – och inte utan anledning. Den kombinerar en funktionell, robust design och funktionalitet i ett framgångsrikt företagsformat. Målgrupperna är hälso- och sjukvårdssektorn, logistik, PoS, industrin och andra som behöver enkel åtkomst till sin information och vill använda så få enheter som möjligt.

Den sistnämnda uppgiften i synnerhet är något som HP Elite x3 klarar mycket bra, eftersom den inte bara kan användas som en smartphone utan också som en tunn klient. Med Lap Dock kan den även användas som en bärbar dator med vissa begränsningar. Det sistnämnda var dock en inte helt övertygande upplevelse under testet. Skärmen är ganska mörk och färgåtergivningen kunde varit bättre. Vi gillar däremot de extra portarna som gör Elite X3 till ett mångsidigt presentationsverktyg. Det stora batteriet i Lap Dock är också ett plus.

Elite x3 har ingen större svagheter, eftersom den kombinerar omfattande säkerhetsfunktioner med en relativt säker mobilplattform: Windows 10 Mobile. Även om operativsystemet har befintlig betydelse på konsumentmarknaden är det enkelt för medelstora företag att integrera och administrera i sin befintliga IT-infrastruktur. Man får också regelbundna säkerhetsuppdateringar. Men också för småföretag och egenföretagare kan HP erbjuda relativt överkomlig tillgång till cloud computing med Workspace, vilket gör inköp och underhåll av ytterligare hårdvara onödig. Paketet avrundas med olika service- och garantiprodukter.
