Acers inträde i prestandasegmentet bland de bärbara speldatorerna är relativt framgångsrikt. Bortser man från den pråliga designen och de känsliga mjuka ytorna har chassit definitivt goda sidor. Inmatningsenheter och gränssnitt är övertygande. Inte alla tillverkare har implementerat en USB 3.1-port. Å andra sidan kan syftet med FrostCore-fläkten ifrågasättas; handledsstödet förblir svalt även utan en extra fläkt.

IPS-skärmen förtjänar betydligt mer beröm. Jämfört med en TN-skärm är inte bara betraktningsvinklarna utan även färgerna överlägsna. Ett annat säljargument är den långa batteritiden – nästan 7,5 timmars videouppspelning med medelljusstyrka är riktigt bra i klassen. De praktiska verktygen PredatorSense och Care Center är andra plus.

Totalt sett kan ändå inte 15-tummaren ta plats på topplistan. Huvudorsakerna är en hög vikt (3,6 kg) och undermåliga underhållsalternativ. Acer kunde också förbättrat ljudet, GPU-minnesmängden och CPU-Turbo-beteendet. Men mest besvikna är vi på designen. Ett lite mer nedtonat utseende hade förbättrat situationen avsevärt. Datorn ser mer ut som en ”alien” än en ”predator”.
